Sarà un Giro-E tra cultura, paesaggio e sport.

Nell’anno in cui si celebrano i 700 anni della scomparsa di Dante, i 160 dell’Unità d’Italia e i 90 della Maglia Rosa, il Giro elettrico 2021 comincerà con una prima settimana esaltante. Avvio in Piemonte, sede delle prime tre tappe. Torino, prima capitale d’Italia, ospiterà la Grande Partenza, l’8 maggio.

Poi il Monferrato con le sue colline e, nella terza frazione, la meraviglia delle Langhe con i suoi scrittori: Cesare Pavese da Santo Stefano Belbo e Beppe Fenoglio, il cantore di Alba e del partigiano Johnny. Vino, libri e panorami: da vivere slow, in bici.

Primo arrivo in salita quello di Sestola, tappa numero 4, mentre il Giro-E comincia la discesa verso sud. Pianura secca tra Faenza e Cattolica per la quinta tappa, poi sarà un crescendo di salite: dall’arrivo in quota ad Ascoli Piceno (tappa 6) alla frazione numero 9, la Sulmona-Campo Felice, prima tappa a quattro stelle del Giro-E 2021. Più tranquilla, ma suggestiva nel paesaggio la Rieti-Foligno, tappa 10, che anticipa il primo giorno di riposo, martedì 18 maggio.

It’ll be a Giro-E blending culture, landscape, and sport. In the year when the 700 years of Dante’s death, the 160 years of the Unification of Italy and the 90 years of the Maglia Rosa are celebrated, the …2021 Giro-E will kick off with an exhilarating week. Start set in Piedmont, with the three initial stages. Turin, Italy’s first capital hosts the Big Start on May 8. Then Monferrato with its rolling hills and, in the third stage, the spectacular Langhe with its writers: Cesare Pavese from Santo Stefano Belbo and Beppe Fenoglio, the narrator of Alba and Johnny the Partisan. Wine, books and panoramas: to be experienced ‘slow’, riding a bike. The first uphill finish is in Sestola, stage number 4, while Giro-E begins its descent southward. Just flatlands between Faenza and Cattolica on the fith stage, but then gradually steeper climbs follow: from a mountain finish in Ascoli Piceno (stage 6) to stage number 9, Sulmona-Campo Felice, the first high-mountain stage of the 2021 Giro-E. Easier yet suggestive in its landscapes, the Rieti-Foligno stage, the 10th, anticipates the rest day on Tuesday May 18.
